Rural Interaction is an artistic experimentation platform that operates through residencies in ranching communities of Baja California Sur. The project fosters horizontal encounters between artists and local residents, where knowledge of the territory, productive practices, and material culture is activated through collaborative processes.
Residencies range from 4-day, 3-night stays for participants to extended formats lasting one to five months. In every case, the local community serves as a guide and holder of ancestral knowledge. Through activities such as hiking, leatherwork, herbalism, and regional gastronomy, each artist produces two works. The pieces are donated to form a traveling collection that culminates in an auction. The experience is documented in Formulato, a catalog-magazine that integrates scientific, literary, and visual texts as a cultural supplement.
Founded Interacción Rural, a transdisciplinary art residency in Southern Baja California (PACMYC 2010, FONCA 2013, FONCA 2015), dedicated to collaborative work with the San Dionisio Canyon community, located within the Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve.
